Sabah experienced magnitude 6.2 earthquake twice; on 26th July 1976 at Lahad Datu and on 3rd March 1984 at Kinabatangan. Both Segama bridge and Kinabatangan bridge survived these events despite their locality which are situated 18km (Segama bridge - Lahad Datu epicenter) and 53km (Kinabatangan bridge - Kinabatangan epicenter) away from epicenters.
