Structural Design
Structural design is our main expertise involving structural steel, reinforced concrete, structural aluminum, timber, hybrid and composite structures with state of the art finite element software with various kind of analyses using British Standards (BS), Eurocodes (EC) or even American codes (ACI and AISC) if necessary. MCS specializes in deriving dynamic and lateral loads especially seismic load and wind load based on local annexes to cater displacement method of analysis or force method of analysis. Besides on-shore structures, MCS have experience in designing off-shore and marine structures namely jetty, RO-RO ramps, quays, dolphins and so on with the appropriate concrete mix, pile system, coating, rubber fenders and cathodic protection system.
Another key area which MCS is specializing in is the concrete technology involving concrete design mix (for all elements) based on BS EN 206 and BRE Special Digest for all kind chemical test, all types of exposure class, all classes of chemical attack and all types of aggressive soil including brownfield class. The design mix also prescribes the appropriate type of cement to be use in order to design an appropriate concrete for its intended robustness. MCS also specialize in assisting testing for components of concrete based on BS EN 197, BS EN 450, BS EN 13263, BS EN 9342-2, BS EN 12620, BS EN 13055-1, BS EN 1008 and BS EN 12878. AS for fresh and hardened concrete testing, MCS will assist to ensure compliance and proper sampling based on BS EN 12350. BS EN 12390, BS EN 13791. The next key area on concrete-related material which MCS specializes is on the use of high-strength, self-settling and precision grout.
Steel structures with wide span trusses, portal frames and space frames have been our frequent design work if not a monthly affair for the past seven years including conducting and interpreting results from test such as magnetic particle (MP) test as well as calculating the required torque for bolting works.
