3.1 ACT 341 Fire Services Act 1988
An Act to make necessary provision for the effective and efficient functioning of the Fire and Rescue Department, for the protection of persons and property from fire risks and for purposes connected therewith. Section 1(2) This Act shall come into operation on a date to be appointed by the Minister by notification in the Gazette; and different dates may be appointed for the coming into operation of this Act, or of different provisions of this Act, in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak respectively.
3.2 ACT 447 Electricity Supply Act 1990
An Act to provide for the regulation of the electricity supply industry, the supply of electricity at reasonable prices, the licensing of any electrical installation, the control of any electrical installation, plant and equipment with respect to matters relating to the safety of persons and the efficient use of electricity and for purposes connected therewith. Section 1(2) This Act shall apply throughout Malaysia; however the Minister may by order suspend the operation of the whole or any of the provisions of this Act in any State.
3.3 ACT 501 Gas Supply Act 1993
An Act to provide for the licensing of the supply of gas to consumers through pipelines and related matters, the supply of gas at reasonable prices, the control of gas supply pipelines, installations and appliances with respect to matters relating to safety of persons and for purposes connected therewith. Section 1(2) This Act shall apply throughout Malaysia; however the Minister may by order suspend the operation of the whole or any of the provisions of this Act in any State.
3.4 ACT 610 Energy Commission Act 2001
An Act to provide for the establishment of the Energy Commission with powers to regulate the energy supply activities in Malaysia, and to enforce the energy supply laws, and for matters connected therewith. Section 1(3) This Act applies throughout Malaysia.
3.5 ACT 655 Water Services Industry Act 2006*
An Act to provide for and regulate water supply services and sewerage services and for matters incidental thereto. WHEREAS it is expedient for the purpose of ensuring uniformity of law and policy to make a law for the proper control and regulation of water supply services and sewerage services throughout Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan: AND WHEREAS it is also expedient that provisions be made to confer executive authority on the Federation for matters relating to water supply systems and water supply services and to make it clear that the executive authority conferred on the Federation for matters relating to sewerage systems and sewerage services is continued throughout Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan. Section 1(2) This Act applies to Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan. Repealed ACT 508 Sewerage Service Act 1993*
3.6 ACT 139 Factories and Machinery Act 1967
An Act to provide for the control of factories with respect to matters relating to the safety, health and welfare of person therein, the registration and inspection of machinery and for matters connected therewith. Section 1(3)* Operation of Act in Sabah and Sarawak suspended - see P. U (B)6/70. Suspension removed in respect of Sabah and Sarawak w.e.f. 1 July 1980- see P.U. (B) 321/80
3.7 ACT 514 OSH Act
An Act to make further provisions for securing the safety, health and welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risks to safety or health in connection with the activities of persons at work, to establish the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, and for matters connected therewith. Section (2) Subject to subsection (3), this Act shall apply throughout Malaysia to the industries specified in the First Schedule. (3) Nothing in this Act shall apply to work on board ships governed by the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 [Ord. No. 70 of 1952], the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1960 of Sabah [Sabah Ord. No. 11 of 1960] or Sarawak [Sarawak Ord. No. 2 of 1960] or the armed forces.
3.8 ACT 654 Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara Act 2006*
An Act to provide for the establishment of the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara with powers to supervise and regulate water supply services and sewerage services and to enforce the water supply and sewerage services laws and for related matters. Section 1(3) This Act applies to Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan.
3.9 ACT 672 Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007*
An Act to provide for and regulate the management of controlled solid waste and public cleansing for the purpose of maintaining proper sanitation and for matters incidental thereto. AND WHEREAS it is expedient for the purpose of ensuring uniformity of law and policy to make a law for the proper control and regulation of matters relating to the management of controlled solid waste and public cleansing throughout Peninsular Malaysia and the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan.
3.10 ACT 118 Housing Development (Control and Licensing) Act 1966*
An Act to provide for the control and licensing of the business of housing development in Peninsular Malaysia, the protection of the interest of purchasers and for matters connected therewith. Section 1(3) This Act shall apply only in Peninsular Malaysia.
3.11 ACT 318 Strata Titles Act 1985*
An Act to facilitate the subdivision of building or land into parcels, the disposition of titles and the collection of rent and for purposes connected therewith. AND WHEREAS it is now expedient for the purpose only of ensuring uniformity of law and policy to make with respect to tenure of parcels in a building or land, registration of titles relating to parcels in a building or land, transfer of parcels in a building or land, collection of rent, leases and charges in respect of parcels in a building or land, and easements and other rights and interests in parcels in a building or land;
Section 1(2) This Act shall apply only to Peninsular Malaysia, the Federal Territory of Putrajaya and the Federal Territory of Labuan.
*Not applicable to Sabah and/or Sarawak
